One of the scariest things about restaurant foods is that even the savviest diners can pack on the pounds in spite of their best and healthiest intentions. Take a friend Drew, for example. Two years ago, he started traveling more for work — meaning that instead of brown-bagging his meals, he began eating food ordered at drive-thru windows and at sit-down diners several days a week. Drew’s a health-conscious guy, so he always chose food that sounded the least sinful — salads, soups, seafood, veggie burgers, you name it. Despite all that “healthy” eating, though, Drew started to notice the numbers on those hotel bathroom scales creeping upward.

“You’re always telling me to choose the healthier option, but it’s not doing me any good,” he complained one day. Wrong. The truth was, he wasn’t actually choosing the “healthier” options at all. We took a look at his favorite “healthy” cuisines and found out that many of them packed more than 1,000 calories per dish! No wonder he was loosening his belt buckle every other week!

Drew’s not the only one gaining weight from these deceptive dishes. Eat This, Not That! did a little digging, and we’ve come up with a list of the worst “healthy” foods in America. By making smart choices and avoiding the empty buzzwords, you can lose 2 pounds a week eating your favorite foods without ever dieting again — the Eat This, Not That! way.
